MY SUPERPOWER

Making disconnected systems feel connected.

A lot of my work has been designing within complex ecosystems where the underlying tools, platforms, and databases were scattered, or outside our design control. This often created significant technical or design constraints. I love this type of challenge because it gives me an opportunity to design flows that reduce friction between systems, making the journey feel simpler than the technology underneath.

At House of Travel, this meant supporting consultants who relied on everything from sophisticated booking platforms to giant spreadsheets and handwritten notes.

The Tripbuilder Checkout API formed part of a broader vision: a contextual workflow hub called "Consultant Desktop" (working title). This central interface was planned to help consultants manage and surface the systems they needed in context, while leaving the underlying technology intact.

At House of Travel, this meant supporting consultants who relied on everything from sophisticated booking platforms to giant spreadsheets and handwritten notes.

At Southern Cross, most platforms were developed by separate teams at different times, using different frameworks or technology. This often made direct integration impossible.

Procedure Checker required a 'next step' action for users whose procedure was covered. I created a contextual soft handover to our separately hosted Healthcare Finder tool on the 'Procedure covered' page. This allowed these users to immediately search for providers who could carry out their procedure.
